Introducing self-charging full hybrid powertrain technology into the Mazda model lineup, the Mazda2 Hybrid1 represents the result of a longstanding partnership between Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation.
The compact car combines a 1490 cm³, 92 PS/68 kW three-cylinder petrol engine with a 59 kW electric motor for a total system power of 116 PS/85 kW. The 2024 hybrid accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and has a top speed of 175 km/h.
The Mazda2 Hybrid's suspension system features low-friction MacPherson struts to the front, and a torsion beam to the rear. The top of the front suspension shock absorbers functions as the upper steering pivot and the optimised suspension angle facilitates the ideal alignment of shock absorbers and coil springs, reducing vibration.
The exceptionally stiff rear torsion beam reduces cornering body roll and enhances the car's agility. Allied to the high rigidity bodyshell and ideal weight distribution, softer rear springs offer great ride comfort in the Mazda2 Hybrid.
The Mazda2 Hybrid features cutting-edge intelligent hybrid technology which seamlessly transitions between electric, petrol and combination modes, giving the driver an agile and enjoyable driving experience in any situation.
Measuring in at a mere 3,940 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, the Mazda2 Hybrid stands out as one of the most compact cars in the B-segment. Its modest dimensions, with short front and rear overhangs, combined with an impressive 4.9-meter turning radius, ensure its adaptability in both bustling urban settings and on expansive highways.
At the front, the signature Mazda 5-point grille opening is surrounded by distinctively designed headlamp clusters that extend deeply into the front fenders, creating a visual effect that minimizes the appearance of the front overhang. These headlamps utilize advanced LED technology and seamlessly integrate daytime running lights, which also serve as turn indicators.
The driver's instrument cluster includes a pair of digital gauges and a central TFT multi-information display screen, boasting a spacious maximum size of 12.3 inches. Positioned at the heart of the cabin, a generously sized 10.5-inch touch-screen display provides the driver with all essential infotainment and vehicle data in a clear, user-friendly format, minimizing any potential distractions.
