To address the evolving needs of the Indian automotive industry, Brakes India, a subsidiary of the TSF Group, and ADVICS, a premium brake system supplier from Japan’s AISIN Group, have unveiled plans to establish a joint venture focused on the Indian light vehicle market. This greenfield project represents a significant investment exceeding INR 500 crore (approximately USD 62 million).
The joint venture will leverage the complementary strengths of both companies, combining Brakes India’s localization capabilities, customer connections, and research and development investments with ADVICS’s advanced global technology and quality systems. Brakes India will hold a 51% stake in the partnership, while ADVICS will hold the remaining 49%.
Scheduled to be located in southern India, the joint venture is expected to generate over 300 employment opportunities in the coming years. The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced braking systems in India, particularly in light of the growing demand for hybrid and battery electric vehicles (HEV/BEVs) and the increasing emphasis on autonomous driving features.
Vasudevan K, President of Light Vehicles at Brakes India, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that the investments in research and development, combined with ADVICS’s global technology, will enable the joint venture to offer superior products to Indian customers. Initially, the products manufactured by the joint venture will be supplied to the Indian light vehicle market through the parent companies.
Keizo Oda, Chief India Officer at ADVICS, highlighted the company’s pride in its advanced technology, which is preferred by Japanese carmakers and expanding globally. He expressed confidence that the integration of strengths from both companies will enhance safety offerings for Indian customers.
The joint venture between Brakes India and ADVICS is a strategic move to address the evolving demands of the global mobility market. With Brakes India’s consistent investments in research and development, coupled with ADVICS’s technological prowess, the partnership aims to position itself as a leading provider of advanced braking solutions, particularly for alternatively fueled vehicles in India.
