Porsche has expanded its electric model’s line-up by adding the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package. The latter ditches rear seats in favour of an even better power-to-weight ratio.
With a lap time of 1:27.87 min, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package earned the title of fastest electric series-production car around the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California.
A pre-production version of the Taycan Turbo GT set a new class record on the Nürburgring. With a lap time of 7:07.55 min, it was 26 seconds faster than Kern’s previous record lap in a Taycan Turbo S Sport sedan back in August 2022. This time also stands as the current record for series-production electric cars on the Nürburgring.
It features a Formula E-inspired ‘Attack Mode,’ based on the push-to-pass function of the other Taycan models. When triggered, up to 120kW of additional power is available for 10 seconds at the press of a button. Attack Mode can also be activated and deactivated via the right-hand paddle.
Equipped with a more powerful pulse inverter on the rear axle that uses silicon carbide as the semiconductor material, both versions have an output of 580kW. With Launch Control that increases to up to 760kW of over-boost power. The maximum torque stands at 1,340Nm. Both Taycan Turbo GT versions offer up to 555km of driving range (WLTP).
Porsche has reduced the weight of the Taycan Turbo GT by up to 75kg compared to the Taycan Turbo S. It features a front spoiler with aeroblades, developed specifically for the Taycan Turbo GT, and an adaptive spoiler sits at the rear, with its tear-off edge featuring a Gurney flap.
The Taycan Turbo GT takes 2.3 seconds to sprint from 0-100km/h, or just 2.2 seconds with the Weissach package.
